Data protection rules for a DBA

Below I’d like to touch on the European Union’s data protection rules in order to encourage database administrators (DBAs) to be careful with sensitive company and individual’s information that you work with.

The data protection rules established by the European Union help give people control of their personal data. Towards LAMP 3 – MySQL vs Oracle

Considering the database part of open source LAMP stack, in particular MySQL, we have to understand that the database is the most complex piece of software and is the most critical component of an enterprise. Remember, it holds the most valuable information– company data. If you, for example, lose the middleware you would probably be able to rebuild it from scratch.
